Chippewa Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility

The City of Chippewa Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility, owned and operated by the City of Chippewa Falls Department of Public Utilities, is responsible for removing wastes from the sanitary sewer system waters prior to releasing the treated water into the Chippewa River.

Objective & Results

The Chippewa Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility was struggling with an outdated treatment facility and process. The customer sought out a new integration system to make the existing process more efficient and resourceful. B&B Electric collaborated with the engineering and integration teams on this project to complete it on time and to the strict pre-engineered specifications. Today, the treatment facility treats up to 5.6 million gallons of water each day.

Phase 1

An Outdated System & a Tight Schedule

The Chippewa Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility is designed to treat millions of gallons of water each day. The original system the facility used was outdated, slow, and increasingly impractical. The city was looking to replace this system with a newer, more evolved integration system to speed up the facility and make their existing process more resourceful. Time was valuable, and the project had a rigorous schedule.

Phase 2

An Enhanced Treatment Process

In addition to increasing efficiency, other benefits to updating these processes include a safer environment for employees, bringing in additional revenue through seepage and hauled wastes, and higher biogas production. Thanks in part to B&B’s knowledge of wastewater treatment plants, the project maintained it’s aggressive schedule through engineering, integration, installation, and startup. Ultimately, the City of Chippewa Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility had an efficient, practical, and innovative system that was able to enhance the speed of the treatment process.
